Today (15 January 20) at 10.00, General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister, was a chair in a meeting on the World Heritage Protection Convention National Committee no. 1/2020 by having H.E. Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and other related organizations attending the meeting to acknowledge and consider operational guidelines together at Ari-Sumpan meeting room, Department of Environmental Quality Promotion.
General Prawit Wongsuwan stated that he supports proposing the Kaeng Krachan forest area to be a World Heritage Site because it is one mechanism to work on cultural and natural resource conservation and to promote tourism in Thailand and stimulate jobs and income to communities both direct and indirect ways.
H.E. Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa gives details that there was a working group set to drive the proposing the Kaeng Krachan forest area to be a World Heritage Site. The meeting considers the draft of additional documents for offering the Kaeng Krachan forest area to be a World Heritage Site and assigns related agencies to proceed by following the steps for submitting to the cabinet for considering and approving before providing those documents to the World Heritage Center within 31 January 2020. After this, those documents will be sent to the World Heritage Committee to consider in the meeting no. 44, during June – July 2020.
