MNRE Celebrates the National Forest Conservation Day on January 14: Uniting the Government and Public's Power to Guard Forests with 4.0 Technology

The Royal Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment by the Royal Forest Department (RFD) partnered with the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) to organize the National Forest Conservation Day 2018 event under the title: “14 January--the National Forest Conservation Day: Uniting the Government and Public's Power to Guard Forests with 4.0 Technology.” The event aims to enhance the participatory process of all sectors to take care of forests and integrate working procedures regarding solutions for forest invasion problems. The ceremony of giving Username/Password details for logging into the “Forest Guard” application of the RFD was held. The logging in details will be given to the Authoritative Sector, the Military Sector, the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) in 1-4 Regions, and the 4th Operation Cooperative Center.

            The Forest Guard application has been jointly developed by the RFD and the GISTDA especially, it is equipped with the implementation of the new technology that can find an invaded area and could help solve forest invasion problems. The application does not only increase the effectiveness officials’ working performance, but it also enhances people and all sectors to participate in guarding forests resources of the country. By downloading the Forest Guard application, everyone can take this step as a channel for informing illegal actions regarding forest invasion.

            On this occasion, today (14 January 2018), General Surasak Kanchanarat, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, was honored to chair the opening ceremony of the National Forest Conservation Day 2018 event, “14 January--the National Forest Conservation Day: Uniting the Government and Public's Power to Guard Forests with 4.0 Technology.”  In addition, he also gave a special initial speech titled “Foster Abundant Thai Forests to Enhancing Development, Make People Happy, Implant the Love of Forests into the People’s Mind, and Build Great Unity” at Vayupak Hall (5-7), Centra by Centara Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre, Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok.
