On this day (8th December 2022) at 10.30 a.m., Mr. Varawut Silpa-Acha, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, had a special speech, "COP27 for the Implementation: the Next Step of Thailand" in the 27th Climate Change Conference (COP27) for publishing the results of the partners’ meetings under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and other relevant meetings. Mr. Jatubhorn Burutpat, the Permanent Secretary, and the administrative officers of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, joined the conference at Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Center, Central World, Bangkok.
Mr. Varawut mentioned about the directions of the world at COP27 in order to hasten the implementations for achieving the green house gas reduction goal and to improve the adaptations and financial supports by being aware that
“just transitions are important for developing countries”. The roles of Thailand at COP27 were to focus on the country’s position and dedication to participate with the world community in order to handle climate changes as announced at COP26, to mainly applying the philosophy of sufficiency economy to develop the country as well as to promote and drive the “BCG Economy Model” for sustainably economic developments while considering environments and climates.
Additionally, the establishment of the Department of Climate and Environmental Changes and the cooperation of all sectors were mentioned. The cooperation of all sectors will support and drive achieving the goals of the country. At the end of the conference, he said that “[I] am sure that we can overcome this challenge if we cooperate. Only together, shall the impossible become possible.”
