"Varawut" Led MNRE's Team to Meet the Prime Minister of Lao PDR to Discuss about Environmental Cooperation for Improving Thailand-Laos Relations

On 21st December 2022, the Government Center in Vientiane in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Mr. Varawut Silpa-Acha, the Minster of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), and Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, the Permanent Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment (PSNRE), led the Thai representatives to visit Mr. Phankham Wiphawan, the Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, in the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony in the Thai - Laos Arboretum between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the area of Somboonnason High School, Ban Nason, Pak Nguem, Vientiane.

Mr. Warawut, MNRE, said that he was glad and ready to continue the environmental cooperation between Thailand and Lao PDR under the Framework for Thai – Lao 4-Year Cooperation (2021 – 2025) and the memorandum about the construction of the Thai - Laos Arboretum and to have the cooperation regarding climate changes in order to strengthen the environment cooperation. He hoped that the knowledge about climate changes will be exchanged and improved in the future. The prime minister of Lao PDR appreciated and was glad that Thailand joined this foundation stone laying ceremony in the Thai - Laos Arboretum since it was close to the 70th anniversary of Thai - Lao relations. Thailand and Lao PDR are also neighboring countries. If there are environmental effects, both countries will be affected. Hence, it is very welcoming if there is the cooperation about natural resources and environment in order to improve the environments of the two countries. They also wished Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati recovered from being sick and healthy soon.
