“Varawut” Led the Team to Discuss with JICA to Develop the Cooperation to Solve the Problems of Climate Changes
On this day (6th January 2023) ay 02.00 p.m. (the local time) in Tokyo in Japan, Mr. Varawut Silpa-acha, the Minister for Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), and Mr. Jatubhorn Burutphat, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (PSMNRE), led the representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment including those from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (OPSMNRE), the Office Of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONREPP) and Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to discuss with Mr. Keijiro Nakasawa, the Senior Vice President of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and the colleagues about the cooperation regarding climate changes, PM2.5, noise pollutions and smoke at the bilateral level as well as marine litter management at the regional level. Both parties agreed to continue the cooperation.
JICA praised the BCG business model of Thailand, which was developed from the philosophy of sufficiency economy and exchanged the opinions about low carbon society that will reduce green house gas emissions. Mr. Warawut mentioned about the dedication of Thailand to achieve the goals about the climate changes as announced by General Prayuth Chan-o-cha in the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in the United Kingdom and the release of the domestic platform for trading clean energies and carbon credits or FTI : CC/RE/REC X Platform (FTIX) and emphasized that financial and technological supports as well as the improvements of foreign workers' potentials will be important factors supporting and hastening Thailand to achieve the goals. The cooperation of all sectors is very important at all levels.
