Varawut praised Saudi Arabia's Future Minerals Forum, jointly discussed and exchanged technologies for sustainable mineral management, cost-effectiveness, and maximum benefits.
On January 11th, 2023 at 3:50 p.m. (local time) at the King Abdul Aziz International Conference Center (KAICC), Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, along with Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Suwapak Imsamut, Deputy Director General Department of Mineral Resources, Mr. Kiattichai Maitriwong, Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), and Mr. Dam Boontham, Ambassador of Thailand to Riyadh, met and discussed with Mr. Bandar Bin Ibrahim Al-Korayev, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia as chairman and host of Future Minerals Forum 2023.
Mr. Varawut praised the success of the Future Minerals Forum. He admired the mining operations of Saudi Arabia which is operated with expertise and has mining extraction technology. Saudi Arabia sees Thailand as Saudi Arabia's potential future mining partner where knowledge and experience in mineral and mining exploration technology can be exchanged. Moreover, Saudi Arabia also emphasizes recycling principles to reduce the use of mineral resources which is in line with the principles of Thailand. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has given importance to environmentally friendly mining or Green Mining. In addition, it is a good opportunity for the two countries to co-operate together to exchange knowledge and experience in the utilization of minerals to create worth and maximum benefit Minerals that can be recycled. and introduce the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle to further mining development. On this occasion, Mr. Varawut also requested Saudi Arabia for a support to have Thailand host the Phuket EXPO 2028 and Thailand wishes to support Saudi Arabia in hosting the EXPO 2030 and the World Heritage Committee meeting as well.
Mr. Bandar Bin Ibrahim Al-Korayev mentioned that Thailand was to be Saudi Arabia's future mining partner and Saudi Arabia itself could exchange knowledge and experience with Thailand in mineral and mining exploration technology and others and deemed recycling principles very important. This is to reduce the use of mineral resources. Thank you sincerely for supporting Saudi Arabia in hosting the EXPO 2030 and the World Heritage Committee meeting.
