MNRE Strengthened the Relationship with France to Improve the Cooperation on Natural Resources and Environment
On this day (1st February 2023) at 12.00 a.m., Mr. Varawut Silpaacha, the Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, and the representatives from the organizations under the ministry, had lunch as invited by H.E. Mr. Thierry MATHOU, the ambassador of the French Republic in Thailand, and the colleagues at the Embassy of France in Bangkok.
While having the lunch, both parties exchanged their visions about natural resources and environment in various aspects. France focuses on biodiversity, climate changes and air pollutions. It was found that these were consistent with the issues that Thailand is focusing on. Thailand also emphasizes on driving the BCG Model. France showed that the country is interested in improving Thailand – France cooperation on natural resources and environment in the name of “France - Thailand Platform Innovation” in the form of a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Both parties discussed about possibilities and aspects for improving the cooperation under the mentioned MOU such as climate changes, air pollution (PM 2.5), electric cars, energy transitions, project developments and mutual activities after Thailand joined the High Ambition Coalition (HAC) for Nature and People. Moreover, the guidelines for improving the biodiversity, promoting community forests into carbon absorbers and significantly expanding the mangrove forests in Thailand.
