“Minister Varawut” Believed in the Potentials of Thai People to Achieve Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero at the International Level

At 09.00 a.m. on this day (22nd February 2023), Mr. Varawut Silpa-Acha, the Minister for Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), had the special speech, “Policies and Driving the Climate Change Operations to Achieve

Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero GHG Emission" in the “Carbon Accounting: Observation from Space” seminar by the

Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) ,at the Grand Ballroom of Anantra Siam Hotel Bangkok, talked and exchanged the information about space technologies or observation satellites in order to measure the carbon sequestrations in the forest, agricultural and other areas for business opportunities, lives and society.

Mr. Varawut mentioned that climate changes are globally important issues that all countries emphasize on and closely monitor. The Minister for Natural Resources and Environment drove and made all organizations including the private sector, the public sector, business persons and other sectors from the civil society level to the village level, household level and individual level aware in order to develop the perceptions about the climate changes and to prevent the risks of the adverse effects of the climate changes in the future. There are plans in all terms including short term and long term in order to solve the issues and to led Thailand to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero GHG emission by 2065. Particularly, forestation is promoted in order to develop the mechanisms of carbon credit markets with the concrete participations of the sectors through the cooperation of all sectors by applying the potentials in order to show the dedications to seriously solve the problems about the climate changes at the international level. However, cooperation is required in order to achieve the goals. Nothing cannot be done if we cooperate. Everything is possible as mentioned that “[T]ogether is possible”
