MNRE Had a Meeting with the World Heritage Committees and Agreed to Drive the Conserved Areas of Andaman Sea and Sri Thep Historical Park into World Heritages
On this day (27th April 2023) at 09.30 a.m., Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the Ministry for Natural Resources and Environment as the 1st Vice Chairperson, assigned Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, the Permanent Secretary of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (PSMNRE) the representative in the National Committee Conference of the World Heritage Convention No. 1/2566. General Prawit Wongsuwon, the Deputy Prime Minister, was the speaker of the conference.
Dr. Phirun Saiyasitpanich, the Secretary of the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, was the committee and secretary, and the committees from responsible organizations and experts attended the conference at the conference room of Prawit Wongsuwan Five Provinces Forest Charity with the VDO conference system.
In this conference, the committees mutually considered and approved nominating the conserved areas of Andaman Sea in the Western shore of Thailand’s three provinces including Ranong, Phang Nga and Phuket to registered world heritages with the three internationally outstanding values: 1) the incomparably and beautifully natural phenomena, 2) the ecologically and biologically complicated processes of the living things in the areas and 3) the diversity of the important and rare living things in order to make the areas the world heritages that will be the proud, precious things, learning source and important tourist attractions of Thailand in the future as well as improve the economies of communities and relevant sectors directly and indirectly. Moreover, the committees approved the draft of the components of the Thai representatives attending the 45th General Assembly of the World Heritage Committees in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia during 10th – 25th September 2023 as well as acknowledged the progress of nominating Sri Thep Historical Park and Phu Phra Bat to the next registered world heritages of Thailand.
