MNRE accompanied Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the opening ceremony of the 7th International Vetiver Conference

Today (29 May 2023) at 09.30 AM, Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (PS of MNRE) with Mrs. Chayanan Phakdeejit, Deputy Permanent Secretary with groups under the MNRE accompanied Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to the opening ceremony of International Vetiver Conference No.7 regarding vetiver grass for soil and water conservation : in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great Borommanatbophit. His Majesty had studied on the utilization of vetiver grass to improve and nourish the soil, resulting in more widespread use of vetiver grass, together with an international network of vetiver grass. Therefore, Thailand initiated the proposal to organize the meeting regarding vetiver for the first time in 1996 with support from the World Bank. At such meeting, it was agreed to hold a vetiver meeting every 4 years. By this 7th meeting, Thailand was hosting the meeting for the 3rd time. The meeting occurred between 29 May - 1 June 2023 at Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai, Muang District, Chiang Mai Province.

Then at 13.00 PM, PS of MNRE with the groups accompanied Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to Huai Hong Khrai Royal Development Study Center. Her Royal Highness went to the demonstration of vetiver grass roots study in Tha Li soil at the Land Study and Development Fair, Royal Vetiver Grass Development and Campaign Project in the area of Royal Development Study Center.
