'Varawut' invites you to join forces to " Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing " on World Sea Day 2023

Today (June 8, 2023) at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, presided over the opening ceremony of the World Ocean Day 2023 under the theme "Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing." and launched a cooperation project to manage marine debris Participation of all sectors at the mouths of 3 rivers, namely Bang Pakong River, Tha Chin River, and Trang River, along with visiting exhibitions from various agencies. This includes the release of sea turtles and marine life, the beach garbage collection at Mae Ramphueng Beach, and the release of divers to collect marine debris. Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, MNRE executives, organization leaders, representatives from relevant agencies, coastal communities, sea protection volunteers, and local people attended the activities at Lan Hin Khao, Rayong Province along with organizing events in 9 other seaside provinces. It is to raise awareness of the importance of the role of the seas and oceans that benefit human beings and the degradation of the seas and oceans so that everyone can take an interest in and conserve the seas.

He said MNRE has driven policies to protect, and preserve marine and coastal resources through a process of participation of various sectors, as well as issuing legislative measures to enforce it. For example, legal measures protecting Bryde's whales from tourism activities, monitoring seagrass beds, and enhancing the integrity of marine and coastal ecosystems, including driving solutions to marine debris under the Marine Debris Management Cooperation Project. Although these measures or guidelines are one of the tools to conserve, restore and protect marine and coastal resources, But the most important and best tool is to unite all of us to "turn" polluted seas into resourceful seas. It has to turn sedentary fishing into responsible fishing, change the use of plastic to environmentally friendly materials, and change from boundless tourism to eco-tourism as well as shifting from imposing a burden on one person to sustaining participation. “Not just today, but every day.
