Today (July 18, 2023) at 9:00 a.m., Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) assigned Mr. Thaloengsak Petchsuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to preside over the opening ceremony of the GMS CCESP Policy Dialogue on Theme 1: Building Climate and Disaster Resilience, which the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) held at The Sukot Hotel, Bangkok. It is to promote participation among the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) operations. It comprises Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam, China, and Thailand, with stakeholders from various sectors to plan action, funding support for climate change adaptation. It includes sharing experiences, best practices and knowledge on adaptation, The National Adaptation Plan: NAP, Ecosystem-Based Adaptation: EBA, Community-Based Adaptation: CBA and Community-Based Disaster Risk Management: CBDRM in key sectors such as agriculture and water resources.

The meeting focused on GMS member countries to strengthen and support climate change adaptation and climate change resilience for local communities in the Mekong sub-region. Local communities will be a key driver in driving action to tackle climate change at the local level. It also focuses on disaster risk reduction at the local level to ensure the sustainability of local communities in the Mekong sub-region.
