Today (August 23, 2023), Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment as head of the Thai delegation along with Mrs. Chayanan Phakdijit, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Secretary-General of the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, Director-General of the Pollution Control Department, Director-General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources acting as Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, Director of the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, Deputy Director General of the Department of Water Resources, Deputy Director General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Deputy Director General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment, and Representative of the Department of ASEAN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment (17th AMME) and related meetings from 23 – 24 August 2023 in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The meeting jointly approved the results of the meeting on 4 matters as follows: (1) 2 ASEAN Heritage Park: AHP of Thailand, namely Phu Khieo-Nam Nao National Park Wildlife Sanctuary is the 56th ASEAN Heritage Park, and Phu Kradueng National Park is the 57th ASEAN Heritage Park, (2) Draft ASEAN Joint Statement on Climate Change for the 28th Meeting of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (ASEAN Joint Statement on Climate Change to UNFCCC COP 28), (3) The presentation of the ASEAN Eco-Schools in secondary and primary levels and the ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award of ASEAN Member States by Thailand, Ban Hua Hin Municipal Demonstration School received the ASEAN Eco-Schools award and Mr. Montri Chuathaisong received the ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award and (4) ASEAN Action Plan on Invasive Alien Species : IAS.
