Today (October 4, 2023) at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Thalerngsak Petsuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) received an assignment from the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to be a representative to attend the 5th meeting of ministers and senior officials on the environment in the Asia and Pacific region of the United Nations Environment Program (5th AP Forum) via videoconferencing at the meeting room, 16th floor, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Mr. Thalerngsak spoke at a meeting of senior officials and reported on the progress of Thailand's environmental operations and emphasized ongoing work on air pollution management and reducing the impact of PM 2.5. It will improve domestic operations and strengthen international cooperation in connection with the Regional Action Plan on Air Pollution adopted by the Asia and Pacific region at the 7th session of the Committee on Environment and Development (CED7) at the ministerial level.
In addition, Thailand has realized the importance of the problem of plastic waste pollution and has made the problem a national agenda with full resolution. It is to move towards an environmentally friendly circular economy society through a legislative advocacy mechanism for packaging waste management. Thailand fully supports and participates in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee: INC to develop legally binding international measures on plastic pollution, including the marine environment. Thailand also supports UNEP and various sectors as well as promoting and integrating sub-regional cooperation to increase participation in resolving the global environmental crisis and put the resolutions of the United Nations Environment Assembly into practice for the sustainability of the region.
