Today (7 October 2023) at 11:00 a.m., Pol. Gen. Phatcharavat Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (Minister of Natural Resources and Environment) chaired the presentation of Climate Action Leading Organization: CALO plaques to 15 organizations and 5 youth and civil society leaders in the Thailand Climate Action Conference: TCAC 2023 under the concept of “building strength and strengthening immunity against climate change for sustainable development” There was Mr. Noppadon Phonsen, Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry along with the executive team, representatives of the private sector, civil society, youth and media attended at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok.

Over the past two days, TCAC 2023 saw more than 3,700 attendees from 48 countries. The second day of the conference opened with a panel discussion on Long Term Climate Resilience by Dr. Kannika Thampanichwong, senior academic from the Thailand Development Research Institute, Mr. Supakorn Chinwanno, independent academic and Mr. Jirawat Ratisunthon, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning and Climate Action We Want from the public and youth sectors. It includes Mr. Jirapat Srithawong, youth representative of Net - Zero Thailand: ACE Youth Ideathon Camp, Ms. Tomoko Ikuta, Thai youth representative at COP27, Mr. Natchanon Traitham, representative of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network: GYBN Thailand, Ms. Prapai Ruangrit, committee member and secretary of the Village Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Volunteer Network (TSM), Ranong Province and Mr. Sakorn Songma, Chairman of the General Assembly of Non-Governmental Organizations for Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Conservation.

In addition, there was a press conference summarizing the results of the TCAC 2023 meeting. The amount of greenhouse gas emissions from the event between 6 - 7 October 2023 has been calculated. As calculated from data on travel to attend the event, electrical energy use during the event, amount of waste generated, and catering of snacks and drinks, it was found that there was a greenhouse gas emissions amount of 3,200 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent and carbon credits from the voluntary greenhouse gas reduction project according to Thailand's standards or T-VER, type of renewable energy production from biomass fuel, have been used as compensation. It is to provide a platform for the TCAC 2023 conference to have net zero greenhouse gas emissions or a Carbon Neutral Event. The results of this meeting will be presented during the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention (COP28) to be held from 30 November - 12 December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to demonstrate the power and determination of every sector in Thailand to achieve the goals set.
