MNRE Joins UNFF 19 Closing Ceremony in New York City

On May 10, 2024, at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, United States, Mrs. Chayanan Pakdeejit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, along with Thai representatives, participated in the closing ceremony of the nineteenth session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF 19).

During this session, all countries endorsed the joint statement at a high-level management meeting at UNFF 19, emphasizing the importance of the forest sector for sustainable development goals, in line with the UN Forest Strategy Plan 2017-2030. They also discussed collaborative approaches to address crises that are related to climate change and biodiversity. Thailand expressed its commitment to closely collaborate with all parties to protect and restore forest areas, expand forest and green areas nationwide, achieve sustainable development goals, and mitigate the impacts of climate change. The UNFF 19 provided a crucial platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences in sustainable forest management with global leaders.
