MNRE Discusses Thailand's Negotiation Stance for COP 29 Summit
Today (July 26, 2024) at 1:30 p.m., Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, assigned Dr. Chayanan Pakdeejit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, to chair the first meeting of the Subcommittee on Climate Change Coordination and International Cooperation for 2024. Representatives from relevant agencies attended the meeting at the Areesamphan Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Climate Change and Environment Building. The meeting aimed to discuss key issues in preparation for participating in COP 29, including the consideration of the draft ASEAN Joint Statement on Climate Change for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 29), the composition of Thailand's delegation for COP 29 and related meetings in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Additionally, the meeting considered the draft framework for Thailand's negotiation stance for the 2024-2025 UNFCCC sessions and the endorsement of the COP28 Declaration on Climate and Health to accelerate actions to protect people's health from the escalating impacts of climate change. Thailand's participation in the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM for Climate: AIM4C) supports climate-resilient agriculture and enhances environmental investments.
