MNRE Opens the International Woodworking and Furniture Exhibition to Foster Sustainable Development within the Woodworking and Furniture Industry

On September 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM, Dr. Chayanan Pakdeejit, MNRE’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, presided over the opening of the 2024 Thailand International Woodworking & Furniture Exhibition (TIWF 2024). The event, held at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Muang Thong Thani, featured over 230 exhibitors from 20 countries and prominent experts in the woodworking industry. The exhibition aims to facilitate knowledge sharing, foster collaboration between domestic and international businesses, and promote sustainable development in the woodworking and furniture industries. Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager of Impact Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., and Mr. Ludger Muller, Managing Director of IEC Messevertriebs GmbH, welcomed participants, with Mr. Sukit Junthong, Director of the Forest Industry Organization, and Mr. Boonsuthee Jirawongpanij, Director of the Forest Economics Office, supporting the event. The event was held at Building 11, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.

Dr. Chayanan highlighted that this exhibition aligns with MNRE’s strategic objective to promote sustainable natural resource use and forest conservation, while also advancing Thailand's economic development, particularly in the vital woodworking and furniture sectors. The goal is to balance economic progress with environmental protection by encouraging the use of certified sustainable wood, fostering the growth of commercial tree plantations, and integrating technology and innovation to reduce environmental impact. The event underscores the importance of collaboration between the government, private sector, and communities in sustainable forest management.

Additionally, the “Greening the Wood Industry” initiative will donate one US dollar for every square meter of exhibition space sold, supporting forest restoration projects and expanding green spaces in Thailand, exemplifying private sector engagement in environmental conservation.
