On January 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM, Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), assigned Mr. Sitthichai Sereesongsaeng, MNRE’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, to represent him as the Vice Chairman at the 1st National Committee Meeting on the World Heritage Convention for 2025. The meeting, chaired by Miss Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, Minister of Culture, took place in the conference room on the 8th floor of the Ministry of Culture.
The committee approved the draft nomination dossier for Wat Phra Maha That Woramahawihan in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, which will be submitted for UNESCO World Heritage status. The site meets the criteria for outstanding universal value. The committee has tasked the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) with coordinating with the Department of Fine Arts to finalize the revised nomination dossier for submission to the Cabinet.
Additionally, if the World Heritage Centre requests modifications to the dossier for completeness or provides recommendations that do not affect the core content, the Department of Fine Arts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and ONEP will collaborate on revisions. The updated document will then be presented to the Subcommittee on Cultural Heritage and the National Committee on the World Heritage Convention before its final submission to the World Heritage Centre within the designated timeframe.
