Today (March 6, 2025) at 9:30 AM, Mr. Sittichai Sereesongsaeng, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), represented Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, in discussions with Mr. Andrey Sergreev, Director of the International Academic Olympiad Federation, and his delegation. The meeting aimed to explore collaboration opportunities for Thailand’s role as the host country of the 9th International Academic Olympiad on Robotics Programming and Artificial Intelligence Innovation, originally initiated in Finland. The competition will involve participation from 65 countries. Representatives from the Department of International Affairs and the Central Administration Division of the MNRE’s Office of the Permanent Secretary also attended the meeting, which was held in Dusita Meeting Room, 4th Floor, MNRE Headquarters.
During the discussion, the federation’s representatives showcased various innovative robotics and AI programming projects developed by young talents, such as using SCRATCH programming to raise awareness about global warming and developing temperature-monitoring robots. They emphasized that advancing artificial intelligence will play a crucial role in driving national development in the future. Additionally, the federation introduced an AI training program designed for government and private sector officials across different countries.
Recognizing the significance of AI development in enhancing natural resource and environmental management, the MNRE has expressed its full support for publicizing the upcoming International Academic Olympiad. Furthermore, the ministry aims to foster collaboration with the federation in joint research projects, utilizing AI-driven innovations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of natural resource and environmental management. Key initiatives include the development of wildfire-fighting drones and AI-powered robots for air and water quality monitoring, ensuring tangible benefits for the public, society, and the nation as a whole.
