Today, March 26, 2025, at 8:50 AM, Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, assigned Mr. Narapat Kaewthong, Assistant Minister of the Ministry, to preside over the opening ceremony of Sustainability Week Asia 2025 at The Athenee Hotel Bangkok.
This forum serves as a platform for government agencies, private sector representatives, and academics to exchange views on environmentally responsible and sustainable business practices. Discussions focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting a circular economy, transitioning to clean energy, and financial mechanisms supporting environmental conservation.
In his address, Assistant Minister Narapat emphasized the Thai government's commitment to enhancing the role of businesses in achieving sustainable development goals. The government encourages businesses to integrate social, environmental, and governance (ESG) principles into their operations while actively contributing to the fight against climate change.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment recognizes the crucial role of the private sector in promoting environmentally responsible business practices, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and minimizing industrial waste through circular economy principles. As part of this effort, the Thai Rice NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action) project was introduced as a case study. This initiative aims to provide farmers with access to climate-smart rice cultivation technologies, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase crop yields, and enhance farmers’ incomes.
