Assistant Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Narapat, Opens Climate Action Forum, Emphasizing Multi-Sector Cooperation to Position Thailand as the "Kitchen of the World"

Today (March 27, 2025) at 9:30 AM, Mr. Narapat Kaewthong, Assistant Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address on "Climate-Smart Food Systems: Positioning Thailand as the Kitchen of the World" at the Sustainability and Climate Action Forum, held at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok.

In his address, Mr. Narapat underscored Thailand’s commitment to developing a climate-smart food system, which is a key priority in the country’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP). This plan identifies agriculture and food security as one of six critical sectors requiring urgent climate adaptation efforts. The goal is to enhance food production resilience, ensuring the system can effectively respond to climate change while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the food supply chain.

Achieving these objectives will require cooperation from all sectors to drive Thailand toward becoming a global leader in climate-smart food systems. This approach is crucial for ensuring food security, promoting sustainability in the agricultural and food industries, and enabling Thailand to achieve its long-term ambition of becoming the "Kitchen of the World." Furthermore, it will serve as a model for other nations striving to balance food production with environmental responsibility.

Today's forum marks the beginning of a collaborative effort that not only strengthens Thailand’s food security and economic stability but also demonstrates the country’s commitment to global sustainability and future generations.
