The event was attended by the District Chief of Na Wa, water user groups, and local residents, preceding the 2nd Official Off-site Cabinet Meeting of 2025 to be held in Nakhon Phanom the following day.
On this occasion, Dr. Chalermchai addressed the residents, stating:
"The government is deeply concerned about the difficulties faced by the people, particularly regarding the shortage of potable and usable water. In line with the objectives of this off-site Cabinet meeting in Nakhon Phanom Province, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, which holds the responsibility to resolve water-related issues affecting the people’s livelihood, is here to inspect the Nong Kud Peng Water Source Conservation and Rehabilitation Project. This initiative, implemented by the Department of Water Resources under the Ministry’s supervision, responds directly to the needs of the local community and aims to solve water shortages for drinking, domestic use, and agricultural purposes." He further emphasized, "What is most important, and what the Ministry earnestly asks of the residents and community leaders, is the collective maintenance and proper upkeep of the project’s systems to ensure their sustainable functionality for the long-term benefit of all. If other areas are suffering from water shortages, please inform the Ministry. We are ready to assist so that all citizens have sufficient access to clean water for their daily needs."
The Nong Kud Peng Water Source Conservation and Rehabilitation Project includes the dredging of a 50-rai water reservoir with a total capacity of 305,800 cubic meters. Additional infrastructure comprises a water inlet structure, an outflow structure, a solar-powered water distribution system to irrigate agricultural areas, cylindrical water storage tanks, and a water pipeline network totaling 3,215 meters in length, with 37 distribution points. Currently, the project benefits 750 rai of agricultural land, including rice fields, livestock grass plots, forest gardens, and fish ponds, supporting 100 farming households. The system is also capable of expanding water supply to support over 500 additional rai of agricultural land in the future.
