April 28, 2025, 2:30 p.m. – Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, presided over a follow-up meeting on the implementation of ministry projects in the Upper Northeastern Region 2, which includes the provinces of Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, and Sakon Nakhon. The meeting, held at the Thipkositkun Conference Room, Nakhon Phanom Municipality Office, was attended by Lt. Cmdr. Sutham Rahong, Secretary to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, along with Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Inspectors General, Directors of Provincial Offices of Natural Resources and Environment, and heads of local agencies in the three provinces.
The meeting aimed to review ongoing problems, assess project readiness, and determine practical solutions for alleviating local hardships, particularly concerning natural resources, water management, and environmental preservation. The outcomes will be presented at the 2nd Official Off-site Cabinet Meeting of 2025, scheduled for April 29, 2025.
Dr. Chalermchai extended his gratitude to all agencies for their commitment to preserving the nation's natural resources and environment, stating:
“Environmental quality directly affects the quality of life. Therefore, when the environment is well-maintained, people’s health and overall quality of life will also improve.”
He also instructed all relevant units to prepare personnel, resources, and equipment for critical upcoming operations, including proactive responses to summer storms—especially in high-risk areas—preparedness for potential severe droughts before the rainy season, and readiness for any emergencies that may arise to ensure timely assistance to affected communities.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of preventing the destruction of natural resources, including illegal land occupation, deforestation, wildlife poaching, and forest fires. He encouraged all units to implement proactive public relations efforts and foster public understanding and cooperation. He underscored the “Three Ps” principle: Prevention, Protection, and Prosecution, as a structured approach to address such issues, emphasizing serious prevention efforts prior to enforcement measures.
Additionally, he urged all departments to expedite budget disbursement following governmental economic stimulus policies. Lastly, he called on agency leaders to prioritize staff welfare, morale, and empathy for frontline personnel. The Ministry is committed to accelerating the completion of welfare management this year.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and unity among all divisions, encouraging collaboration as “One MNRE.”
