New York, May 5–7, 2025 – Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), along with Mr. Surachai Achalaboon, Director-General of the Royal Forest Department, and representatives from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, the Forest Industry Organization, and the International Affairs Division of the Office of the Permanent Secretary, participated in the 20th Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF20) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

During the session, Mr. Jatuporn delivered a formal statement highlighting Thailand’s steadfast commitment to forest governance. He reiterated the nation’s strategic goals, which align with the National Strategy to increase green cover to 55% of the total land area by 2037, and the National Forest Policy target of expanding forest areas to 40% by 2036.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts at both national and international levels to ensure the sustainable management and utilization of forest resources. He also underscored the critical role of community participation in forest conservation, protection, and restoration, positioning forests as essential tools in addressing the global climate crisis and its wide-ranging impacts.
