Dr. Chalermchai Leads Zoological Park Organization Delegation to Bioparc Valencia to Study Global Zoo Management Concepts and Sign MoU on Knowledge Exchange

Valencia, Spain, 23 May 2025 — Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), led a high-level Thai delegation to Bioparc Valencia to study internationally recognized practices in zoo design and ecological management.

The delegation included Mr. Apichart Sakset (Ministerial Advisor), Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat (Permanent Secretary of MNRE), Associate Professor Dr. Jade Donavanik (Chairman of the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand), and Mrs. Chongkolnee Kaewsod (Acting Director General of the Zoological Park Organization). They were warmly received by Mr. Jose Maldonado Castillo, President of Fundación Bioparc, with H.E. Mr. Wosit Worasap, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, also in attendance.

The visit focused on observing Bioparc Valencia’s eco-centric design, which authentically replicates natural habitats to support animal welfare, encourage natural behaviors, and promote sustainable management. The park’s model also emphasizes community involvement in conservation efforts.

During the visit, Dr. Chalermchai witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand and Fundación Bioparc. The agreement promotes knowledge exchange in animal care, exhibit design, zoo management, and staff training.

This partnership marks a significant step forward in Thailand’s mission to elevate its zoological standards and strengthen its role as a modern, sustainable hub for conservation and environmental education.
