Thailand Discusses Cooperation with Saskatchewan’s Minister of Trade and Export Development, Canada

Bangkok, Thailand — September 26, 2025 — At 14:00 hrs, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), assigned Mr. Prasert Sirinapaporn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MNRE, to welcome Honourable Warren Kaeding, Minister responsible for Trade and Export Development of Saskatchewan, Canada, and his delegation on the occasion of their official visit to Thailand. The meeting was held in the 17th-floor conference room of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities for cooperation in the fields of clean energy management, green agriculture, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies. These initiatives aim to support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, promote the green economy, and promote sustainable development. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Pavich Kesavawong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment, along with other representatives.

Mr. Prasert emphasized the close ties between Thailand and Canada and highlighted Thailand’s action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage investment in sustainable natural resource and environmental management. He further underscored the importance of climate technology as an area of cooperation, noting Canada’s active support for projects such as the Decarbonization of the Cement and Concrete Sector in Thailand and the Mobile Carbon Testing Unit project, which develops mobile testing platforms for carbon capture technologies to reduce industrial emissions.

In his remarks, Minister Kaeding expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to visit Thailand and reaffirmed the importance of sharing expertise and knowledge in clean and low-carbon technologies. He affirmed Canada’s readiness to continue supporting cooperative projects and joint initiatives to promote sustainable development.
