Nairobi, 8–12 December 2025 — At the United Nations Office in Nairobi, the Thai delegation, led by Mr. Prasert Sirinapaporn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in his capacity as Head of Delegation, together with relevant agencies including the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, the Pollution Control Department, the Department of Climate Change and Environment, the International Affairs Division of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of MNRE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Solutions for a Resilient Planet,” and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to advancing the global environmental agenda in partnership with the international community.

During the session, the Deputy Permanent Secretary delivered Thailand’s statement, emphasizing the country’s determination to promote global environmental priorities and to advance toward a low-carbon society in line with the National Strategy and the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model, with Thailand targeting net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and promoting regional cooperation on carbon markets through the High Integrity ASEAN Carbon Initiative. Thailand further underscored the importance of biodiversity conservation under the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework through biological resource research, the advancement of a network of more than 12,000 community forests, and integrated management of land, water, and climate resources, while simultaneously promoting food waste reduction through the Zero Food Waste campaign and strengthening environmental governance through the advancement of legislation and new financial mechanisms to support local-level implementation.

Thailand also expressed its commitment to leveraging technology, data, and innovation to drive environmental policies toward tangible outcomes, while calling upon all countries and sectors to cooperate in building a safe and sustainable world for all generations. At the conclusion of the Assembly, Thailand joined in endorsing the Ministerial Declaration and key resolutions of the United Nations Environment Programme as guidance for addressing global environmental challenges, and further co-sponsored the resolution entitled “Enhancing the Meaningful Participation of Children and Youth in Environmental and Climate Change Action,” proposed by Sri Lanka, which aims to promote the role and participation of children and youth in advancing environmental and climate action.
