Bangkok, 12 January 2026, at 2:00 PM, Ms. Preeyaporn Suwanaged, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), welcomed Ms. Chen Danyu, Director of the Division of Climate Change and Regional Cooperation, together with a delegation from the Department of Ecology and Environment and representatives from the business sector of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of their visit to Thailand to hold discussions and exchange approaches for cooperation in the fields of natural resources and the environment. Participating agencies included representatives from the Department of Climate Change and Environment, the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, the Pollution Control Department, the Department of Water Resources, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, and the International Affairs Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment. The discussions covered cooperation on climate change issues, such as the status of greenhouse gas emissions, climate change risks and adaptation, environmental pollution management, biodiversity conservation, protected area conservation, wetland management, as well as the promotion of environmental innovation. In addition, the Thai side was informed of the operations of the Guangxi Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (GRAES) under the Department of Ecology and Environment, as well as the role of the business sector of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In this regard, the Chinese side expressed interest in exchanging knowledge and experiences on the management of air pollution issues arising from agricultural activities, such as the prohibition of sugarcane residue burning, as well as soil pollution management and the promotion of cooperation with the business sector for the conservation of natural resources and the environment. Meanwhile, the Thai side expressed interest in exchanging experiences on wetland conservation and the management of natural resources and the environment. Both sides agreed that the close relationship and cooperation between Thailand and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which share geographic and social proximity, can be further developed into concrete cooperative projects and activities in the future, both at the bilateral level and under the ASEAN–China cooperation framework, and that they will jointly continue to advance such cooperation to achieve sustainable and tangible outcomes.
