Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), presided over the opening ceremony of the "Low-Carbon Future" collaboration event and presented a vision to concretely drive Thailand toward a low-carbon economy. He emphasized the importance of uniting forces between the private and public sectors to accelerate the development of product value chains in order to address global low-carbon trade challenges. This initiative is fully supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to enable the country to enhance its capabilities as an international business leader, ultimately generating jobs and income for local citizens in a tangible manner.

Mr. Suchart stated that the business sector is currently facing immense pressure from climate change, international trade regulations, and increasingly stringent environmental standards, alongside continuously rising expectations regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainability. Therefore, transitioning to a low-carbon economy is no longer just an "option" but a "necessity" that will dictate the long-term growth future of the business sector.

“Thailand possesses immense potential to drive the transition toward a low-carbon society. Government support will provide a competitive advantage by accelerating the enforcement of the draft Climate Change Act. This legislation will systematically integrate policy mechanisms, technology, finance, and business cooperation together to achieve real-world results at all levels,” said Mr. Suchart.

On this occasion, the Minister expressed his congratulations to Thai Eastern Group Holdings Public Company Limited for its success in developing the “world’s first carbon-neutral block rubber.” This achievement represents a major milestone for the Thai rubber industry on the global stage and reflects the potential of the Thai industrial sector to elevate itself to international sustainability standards.

Furthermore, he praised Thai Eastern Bio Power Public Company Limited for developing into a comprehensive waste management hub for the country. This development aligns with the Circular Economy concept and plays a significant role in tangibly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The MNRE Minister also expressed his appreciation to all business partners across all sectors for continuously driving development toward a low-carbon future. He expressed confidence that this forum would serve as the starting point for strong cooperation, leading to the measurable elevation of Thailand's low-carbon value chain.

“I wish for this collaboration to be highly successful and to expand further into the sustainable development of the country's low-carbon economy,” the Minister concluded.
