JUNE 6, 2026, — Dr. Raweewan Bhuridej, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, attended the opening ceremony of the Thai silk exhibition “The 15th Celebration of Silk, Thai Silk Road to the World” and The 7th Next Big Silk Designer Contest 2026. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall in Bangkok.
Mr. Anutin stated that Thai fabric and Thai silk have enjoyed a steady surge in popularity, particularly among the new generation, reflecting an awareness and pride in the nation's cultural heritage. This heritage has been further developed to align with contemporary lifestyles and society. Furthermore, it has gained international recognition through the historical exhibition “Thai Royal Attire to the World: La Mode en Majesté. Royal Thai Dress from Tradition to Modernity” in Paris, the French Republic, under the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, which marks another significant step in disseminating Thai identity to the global community.
The Prime Minister added that Thai silk is considered a valuable heritage of national wisdom and a cultural capital capable of generating sustainable economic value, serving as a cultural ambassador that conveys Thailand's unique identity and charm to the global community. The government is fully prepared to support cooperation from all sectors in conserving, developing, and promoting Thai fabrics and traditional attire to achieve widespread international recognition.
On this occasion, Dr. Raweewan Bhuridej, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, along with Mr. Prasert Sirinapaporn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, participated in the Thai fabric fashion show representing the Thai government sector to jointly promote and publicize Thai fabric as a valuable cultural heritage, while supporting the continuation of local wisdom and income generation for communities, thereby elevating Thai fabric to become a key Soft Power of the nation on the world stage.
