Today (5 October 2020) at 10.00 hrs. General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister, was a chairman of the National Climate Change Policy Committee, No. 2/2020. H.E. Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, the Minister of National Resources and Environment, served as the 1st Vice-Chairman. The representative from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, acted as the 2nd Deputy Chairman. Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, served as a director and secretary of the meeting and Dr. Raweewan Puridate, Secretary-General of the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning. Together with Mr. Kiattichat Maitreewong, the Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO), acted as a board and assistant secretary, and qualified members and relevant departments attended the meeting at the Ari-Sampan meeting room, Department of Environmental Quality Promotion. The panel agreed on four main topics as the following. 

 1. Approved the (draft) Master Plan to support the Climate Change Act 2015 – 2050 (revised edition 2020) with three directions, (1) adaptation to climate change, (2) reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the growth of low carbon, and (3) enhancement of the effectiveness of climate change management.        

2. Approved the third (draft) Biennial Update Report and submit it to the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the greenhouse gas reduction results from the energy sector measures in 2018 totaling 57.84 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, which is 15.76 % of the target of NAMAs.

3. Approved the Statement of Undertaking: SoU under the Nitric Acid Climate Action Group (NACAG) Initiative and proposed to the Cabinet to comment. And agreed with the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment or a representative assigned to represent Thailand to sign the Statement of Undertaking: SoU.

4. Approved the appointment of Ad Hoc Subcommittee Meeting Parties driven operations of the Thailand Climate Action Conference in preparation for the conference of the Parties to drive working aspects of climate change in Thailand (Thailand Climate Action Conference). The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment initiated to hold a meeting in 2021 to promote understanding and awareness of the importance of the UNFCCC Framework and the Paris Agreement.
