National Committee on Climate Change Policy Meeting

The first National Committee on Climate Change Policy meeting of 2018 chaired by General Prawit Wongsuwon, Deputy Prime Minister was held on Friday 20th April at the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP). The committee members consist of government agencies, private sector, and experts with General Ekachai Chansri, Vice Minister for Natural Resources and Environment as the first vice chairman, Mr. Somchai Masathien, Deputy Permanent Secretary, acting as Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment as the secretary, and Dr. Raweewan Bhuridej, Secretary General of the Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning together with Mrs. Prasertsuk Chamornmarn, Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization as the assistant secretary. The committee approved four important documents as follows; (1) Draft Supportive Action Plan for Thailand’s NDC Roadmap on Mitigation which will support the four sectors  under the NDC roadmap to address constraints, gaps, support needed and monitoring & reporting system for NDC implementation, (2) Draft Climate Technology Roadmap and Database on Mitigation for Energy and Transport sector, Waste Management sector, and Industrial Process and Product Use sector (IPPU) which will support the implementation of Thailand’s NDC to achieve the mitigation targets, (3) Thailand’s submission on the common time frames for nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and (4) the development of institutional arrangements for reporting activity data for GHG inventory and tracking the implementation of mitigation measures.
